2 Poems by Cristine Brache
“I AM MISS UNIVERSE”
“i am miss universe”
moaners, moaners, moaners
i like it
nice to meet you
i was a speed freak
i was 16 touring universities in miami
i am from LA
i made a movie called
young, dumb, and white
in the movie
a guy gets tied up
and says whoop
CRIED EVERY TIME I BRUSHED MY HAIR
i cried every time i brushed my hair
came through my thought
sprayed the mess all over the screen. moist,
wet and tried to let the tears hit the board purposefully
while i detangled keys and speech,
unshaven with lice crawling over
caressing caves of gentle void
“stronger, thicker, and bouncier than ever”
whispering the words into my sleeping lover’s ear
looking to be saved, looking to be.
but the illumination of the screen
the glisten. the refracting shine within my shallow tear
my wettest dream.
as hollow as my tangled hair with miracle product
